Happy Post

 Hello Again!

The past couple of months, working with the students of IES Virgen Del Puerto, have been a dream. We have accomplished so much together and had so much fun while doing it. We are trying to learn and practice English, while being happy.

Here I want to share with all of you some of the different activities we did from October until the end of the year 2021. Of course, during the month of October there were many days of introduction and just getting to know each other. However, after we were feeling more comfortable with each other that’s when the fun started.

Bilingual 1st of ESOS

I mostly work with students from 1st to 4th of ESOS but sometimes I also get to visit with some of the bachillerato classes, and I even got the chance to meet with the FP Early Childhood Education students.

One week back in October I went to the school in the afternoons to meet the the FP students and got to introduced myself to them. Since they are studying to become early childhood educators, Pilar, their teacher, and I wanted to have some fun with them. We decided to do an activity that they themselves might have to do with their little ones when they start working. This activity also got them to practice some English while having fun at it.

We got them outside of the classroom and got to dancing.

Here is a video of what we did!!

2nd Year Students

Hope you enjoyed watching that as much as we enjoyed making it 😁

This is not the only activity we have done so far. The ESOS and Bachillerato students have had their fun too.

In October we celebrated Halloween by playing Halloween Trivia.

In November we celebrated Thanksgiving (US holiday) by playing Jeopardy! Also, my bilingual 1st of ESOS students got creative and showed their artistic side. They made hand-turkeys and wrote on them what they were thankful for. We had so much fun doing it and they came out so great that we even made a wall display 👇

In December we were not in school for many days because of the long weekend (puente) and the holidays. However, we still took advantage of the days we had and did some other activities.
To get the students to practice talking I made a simple activity that was fun and engaging. First they had to tell us about what they did over the long weekend. Then they had to look at a emoji line, like the one below, and come up with their own stories interpreting what they saw.

Lastly, to celebrate Christmas before going on vacation we played musical bingo. The students had to listen to English Christmas carol to figure out the name of it and then they had to see if they had it in their bingo cards. We got to sing and dance while still practicing our listening skills.

Last quarter was a great one for me and I hope it was for the students as well.
We got to know each other and learn from one another.
We got to celebrate different holidays together.
The students got to practice the English they already knew and learn even more.
But most importantly we did it while also having fun!

Hope you enjoy this post, come back soon.
